Da haben wir unseren Adventskalender schon verlängert und haben immer noch nicht all unsere Künstler/innen unterbekommen. Was war dein/euer musikalisches Highlight 2019?
LAUREN RUTH WARD: The tours these last 3 months has been life changing. I got to open for my friend Melanie for 5 weeks in 2-3k capacity rooms all over the US. Then we had our first Europe / UK tour headlining. I got to meet so many fans I’ve been talking to online with for years. It was a love fest.
IDA MAE: There have been quite a few this year as we have done so much touring across Europe and The U.S but I think it would have to be opening a few shows for Willie Nelson and Allison Krauss. That was truly unforgettable.
AILBHE REDDY: I loved listening to Big Thief’s new albums, going to see some friends gigs live, discovering new artists to love. I also released a song with Daithí called ‘submarines’, it was really fun performing it live at festivals all over the country this summer. I’m used to playing shows standing in place with a guitar so it was really fun to be able to dance and jump around on stage for that song.

LAUREN RUTH WARD: This is hard! Last year I couldn’t stop listening to these albums : Valley Queen “Super Giant”, Jen Cloher “Jen Cloher ” and The Blank Tapes “Candy”
IDA MAE: An almost impossible question. There are different ones every month let alone year! We are really living Aldous Harding’s – Designer. Gregory Alan Isokov- The weatherman. And then a million others..!!
AILBHE REDDY: I don’t think I could pick just one! Julia Jacklin – Crushing (2018), Big Thief – Capacity (2017), Andy Shauf – The Party (2016), Angel Olsen – MY WOMAN (2016), Villagers – Darling Arithmetic (2015) / Becoming A Jackal (2010)

Bester Live Act 2019?
LAUREN RUTH WARD: So many.. I’ve had visceral experiences to the talent in my inner circle : Rett Maddison, Valley Queen, All Things Blue, Veronica Bianqui, Slugs, Alicia Blue, The Blank Tapes.
IDA MAE: There are quite a few! We did six weeks on the road with Marcus King. He and his band are astonishing live. Villagers we saw in Switzerland, that was fantastic. Patti Smith also. I could watch her every evening.
AILBHE REDDY: I really enjoyed seeing 2 of my new favourite acts this year – Big Thief and Julia Jacklin – in Dublin. They were both surpassed all my expectations!
ANDI FINS: Mac de Marco
Welche Weihnachtstradition hast du / habt ihr?
LAUREN RUTH WARD: I’ve been going to Maryland to see my family every other year / staying in LA and cooking for friends on the opposing years. This was an LA year and I made mole my first time. 2.5 hours and 23 ingredients! We had a vegan Mexican feast.
IDA MAE: These last few years our Christmas tradition has been to do as little as possible! We just moved to America so all our usual family traditions are out of the window. It’ll be whiskey cocktails and Mac and cheese side dishes this year!
AILBHE REDDY: I celebrate Xmas at home with my family, although this year my brother and sister-in-law will be in Brazil! We don’t have anything wild or unusual. I usually find a personal traditional in panic-buying all my xmas gifts last minute.
ANDI FINS: Die Steuererklärung machen.
Was denkst du / denkt ihr wird sich auch 2020 nicht ändern?
LAUREN RUTH WARD: My undying need to make a music video for every song I release.
IDA MAE: The amount we are on the road. It’s just getting busier.
AILBHE REDDY: I don’t know what won’t change, it seems like we are living in a time of massive and quick changes. Hopefully people’s love of music won’t change.
